OVERVIEW

Job Title: Finance Officer (3 Positions Available)

Location: Cluster Office (in Uganda)

Job Details:

The Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) seeks three Finance Officers to support its efforts in combating HIV/AIDS and TB in Uganda. The successful candidates will assist with project financial management, ensuring accurate recording and processing of all transactions, and preparing clear and comprehensive financial reports to maintain strong financial oversight.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports, ensuring expenses align with regulations and MJAP policies.
  •  Prepare bank reconciliation statements and process payments according to project budget and approvals.
  •  Review and approve mobile money payments for project activities, manage petty cash funds, and address financial report queries from headquarters.
  •  Assist in preparing cash flow projections, reviewing financial reports from sub-grantees, and working with other departments on financial matters.
  •  Participate in month-end report preparation, assist with inventory and asset audits, and ensure timely payments for supplies and utilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Management, or a similar field.
  • Additional Level 2 ACCA or CPA qualification preferred.
  • Experience with Sun Systems, Navision, or QuickBooks accounting software is an advantage.
  •  Experience with online banking platforms (especially Beyonic) is desirable.
  •  Minimum 3 years of experience in financial management, with experience in USAID projects and mobile money payments preferred.
  •  Excellent writing, computer, management, and organizational skills.
    – Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
