As a distributor, Nexgen is responsible for the sales and marketing of automated petrol stations, featuring dispensing pumps from world-leading brands. In alignment with the energy transition, Nexgen also markets renewable and energy-efficient equipment, contributing to a sustainable energy future. The engineering department provides essential maintenance and installation services for the equipment sold.

Job Summary:

The Accounting Assistant provides functional support to the Head of Finance. In this role, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of various accounting entries, reports, and projects.

Principal Accountabilities for Accounting Assistant:

  • Process transactions and manage company floats to facilitate efficient mechanical maintenance contract requests and other administrative payouts. Ensure payment accuracy and compliance with financial records.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Finance (HoF) to maintain the completeness of the payment dashboard and cash flow forecast.
  • Work closely with accountants to update and maintain the accounts receivable aging analysis.
  • Receive and review day-to-day invoices, subcontracts, purchase orders, and related documentation for completeness and adherence to financial policies, procedures, budget, and contractual requirements.
  • Prepare statutory deductions, including VAT and withholding tax returns.
  • Record financial transactions in accounting software (invoices, expenses, and payments).
  • Identify and correct discrepancies in ledgers and accounts.
  • Verify payments and deposits made through company accounts.
  • Prepare payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
  • Process payments and invoices accurately within expected timeframes.
  • Collaborate with accountants to ensure accurate reporting and address discrepancies.
  • Assist with financial reporting, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities and audit preparations.
  • Perform various accounting and administrative duties to support the accounting department.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Pre-Entry Requested Experience for Accounting Assistant:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management, with CPA qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an accounts department within a busy environment.
