About Yako Bank (U) Limited:

Yako Bank (U) Limited was incorporated in the Republic of Uganda in 2010 and licensed as a Credit Institution by the Bank of Uganda in 2020. Initially operating as Yako Microfinance (U) Limited, it later upgraded to a Credit Institution and became Yako Bank (U) Limited. The bank is owned by various shareholders and holds licenses to provide savings and lending products to diverse clients.

Job Summary:

Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in identifying and cultivating strategic relationships with partners and potential customers. They lead the product development and sales teams, aiming to enhance the bank’s product awareness, improve its corporate image, and implement business development initiatives to achieve profitability objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities for Business Development Manager:

  1. Grow the Bank’s Savings Portfolio:
    • Develop strategies to increase the bank’s savings base.
    • Explore innovative approaches to attract new savers.
  2. Expand the Customer Base:
    • Identify target customer segments and devise plans to acquire new clients.
    • Foster strong relationships with existing customers.
  3. Primary Relationship Management for Public Sector Entities:
    • Act as the main point of contact for public sector organizations.
    • Understand their financial needs and tailor solutions accordingly.
  4. Provide Regular Feedback for Product Improvement:
    • Continuously assess product offerings and suggest enhancements.
    • Stay informed about market trends and competitor offerings.
  5. Manage Business Relationships:
    • Handle relationships with private and public sector entities.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive business growth.
  6. Monitor Business Unit Performance:
    • Regularly assess the performance of all business units.
    • Provide timely reports to management.
  7. Execute Promotional Activities:
    • Plan and implement below-the-line activations for effective product promotion.
    • Optimize marketing efforts to maximize product uptake.
  8. Prepare Presentations:
    • Create compelling presentations for business prospects and key stakeholders.
    • Highlight the bank’s unique value proposition.
  9. Sales Training:
    • Equip field staff with effective sales techniques through training sessions.
    • Enhance their ability to promote bank products.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience for Business Development Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a similar position.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of relationship management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sales management and branch banking.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with the Microfinance and Commercial Banking business environment.
  • Professional personal presentation.
  • Proficiency in business analysis.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Effective teamwork skills.
