Head of Human Resource

Job Purpose of the Head of Human Resource

Lead the Human Resources Department, overseeing all HR systems and procedures, including recruitment, training, performance management, conflict resolution, compensation, and benefits. Develop and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with governing regulations.

Accountabilities of the Head Of Human Resource

  • Design and implement HR systems, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee all HR systems, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives
  • Communicate HR policies and procedures to all staff
  •  Establish and oversee processes for conflict resolution and prevention
  •  Make recommendations for strengthening organizational learning, knowledge management, and change management


  • Review and advise on annual staffing plans
  • Develop and update annual staffing and recruitment plans
  •  Design and implement recruiting, selection, and orientation procedures
  • Manage company-wide recruitment and hiring processes
  • Establish partnerships with local recruitment agencies and institutions

Performance Management

  • Implement and manage the performance evaluation system
  • Track and notify managers of evaluation deadlines
  •  Review completed evaluations and provide feedback
  • Advise line managers on best practices in performance management
  •  Identify employee training and development opportunities

Compensation Administration and Rewards Management

  •  Maintain and update the company salary matrix
  •  Research and ensure competitive salaries
  •  Oversee employee benefits administration
  •  Design benefit programs that comply with local labor law
  • Work with senior management to design and implement competitive incentive programs

Records Management

  • Ensure proper maintenance and updating of all company personnel files
  •  Manage and maintain the personnel database system (HRIS)

Employee Relations

  • Ensure accurate and timely responses to employment-related inquiries
  • Assist staff with personnel issues or problems
  • Provide support for resolving employee disciplinary issues and termination

Training and Development

  • Ensure proper training of managers and staff on HR policies and processes
  • Develop and execute annual training plans
  • Identify training providers and ensure training plans meet company standards

Department Planning and Development

  •  Develop a human resources strategic plan
  • Hire, train, and manage all Human Resources Department staff

Job Requirements of the Head of Human Resource

  • University degree in business, management, economics, human resources, or personnel management
  • At least 5 years of progressive employment experience in HR management
  • Strong knowledge of local labor law and employment practices
  •  Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  •  Strong organizational skills
  • Fluency in English and Swahili

Work Hours and Experience

  • 8 hours/day
  • 60 months of experience
  •  Bachelor’s degree
