We are seeking a qualified and experienced professional to shape the public image of Nation Media Group Uganda. Your role will involve innovative marketing and communications strategies to build brands, enhance market presence, and drive profitability and market share.

Main Responsibilities for Head Of Marketing at Nation Media Group:

  • Develop comprehensive marketing and communications strategies aligned with our business goals and digital-first strategy.
  • Lead the marketing team in executing impactful campaigns across various media platforms (legacy and digital).
  • Oversee the creation of engaging marketing content (videos, blogs, newsletters, press releases) that resonates with target audiences.
  • Manage the company’s brands and reputation consistently across all media channels.
  • Execute a customer service strategy that delights stakeholders.
  • Spearhead public relations efforts, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate marketing strategies with product development, sales, and customer service initiatives.
  • Implement an annual market research plan to guide decision-making.
  • Analyze market trends and refine strategies, reporting on ROI and campaign performance.
  • Conduct cross-departmental brand sessions to ensure alignment with brand personas and market trends.
  • Continuously gather feedback from customers, trade, and the market to inform tactics and strategies.
  • Coordinate with HR and General Manager Commercial to maintain a motivated, disciplined marketing team.
  • Manage the approved marketing communications budget effectively.

Qualifications and Experience Required for Head Of Marketing at Nation Media Group

  • Academic: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or a business-related field from an accredited university.
  • Professional: Professional qualification or postgraduate diploma (CIM, MBA, or master’s degree) is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • At least 9 years of working experience, with 3 years at the middle management level.
  • Experience in a media-related industry and digital marketing is required.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong leadership skills and experience managing diverse marketing teams.
  • Ability to track, review, and manage team performance effectively.
  • Appreciation of the media industry and understanding of market dynamics.
  • Budget development and management skills.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools, SEO, social media marketing, and content management systems.
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Innovative and creative thinker with a focus on audience engagement and business growth.
