JOB OVERVIEW

The Operations and Sales Manager role at Shell Nakiyanja requires operational expertise, customer service skills, and business acumen to successfully manage the gas station’s operations and sales.

Responsibilities:

  1. Overseeing Daily Operations:
    • Ensure the smooth running of the gas station.
    • Manage staff.
    • Comply with safety and environmental regulations.
    • Maintain customer satisfaction.
  2. Inventory Management:
    • Monitor inventory levels.
    • Order fuel and merchandise.
    • Manage budgets.
  3. Sales and Profitability:
    • Implement strategies to increase sales and profitability.
    • Set fuel prices according to market conditions.
    • Possibly earn commissions based on sales.
  4. Customer Service:
    • Handle customer inquiries and complaints.
    • Ensure positive customer experiences.
    • Maintain the station’s cleanliness and appearance.
  5. Staff Management:
    • Supervise and train staff.
    • Set employee schedules.
    • Manage the hiring, training, and firing of employees.

Skills:

  • Leadership: Motivate and guide teams to achieve sales targets and operational efficiency.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers, staff, and suppliers.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent service to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Inventory Management: Keep track of stock levels, order supplies, and manage budgets.
  • Financial Acumen: Handle cash, manage bank deposits, and prepare financial reports.
  • Salesmanship: Understand customer needs and drive merchandise sales through effective promotions and upselling.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve issues swiftly to maintain smooth operations.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to changing circumstances, such as shift changes or unexpected events.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety, security, and environmental regulations.
  • Technical Skills: Operate and troubleshoot equipment like fuel pumps and POS systems.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in operations management, preferably in the oil and gas industry (fuel station).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced retail environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in shifts.
