This is an international humanitarian and development non-governmental organization in general consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council and one of the largest in South Korea. Established in 1991, the organization currently conducts missions around the world to improve quality of life and education standards, as well as to provide aid in areas of civil unrest or natural disaster. To develop and achieve the NGO objectives, Good Neighbors International Uganda is seeking to recruit the following employee:

Position Summary:

The Operations Assistant will be responsible for providing support in the planning, designing, and implementation of various project activities in the target community.

Location: Pallisa Field Office.

Reports to: Program manager & other supervisors.

Salary:  800,000-1,000,000 (UGX) 

Responsible for supporting the execution of all project-related activities. These include:

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensuring quality and integrity in the implementation of health project-related activities in the allocated project area, including adherence to technical guidelines and administrative systems.
  • Supports the implementation of Community Development Projects (CDPs) raised and set by the organization.
  • Upholds and achieves the standards of the organizational goals and primary objectives.
  • Participates in proposal planning, designing, writing, and implementation.
  • Participates in drafting plans of action and yearly budgets.
  • Collects field data, analyzes it, and reports the results of the data collected.
  • Participates in business trips and travels at the will of the organization.
  • Participates in fundraising with other organizations.
  • Coordinate with the CDCs (Community Development Committees) and local authorities to ensure impact.

Networking 

  • Liaise with all key stakeholders at the CDP (community development project) level and other partners’ support for development projects within the target communities.
  • Build local networks.
  • Provide support to develop online social networks.

Interactions

Use the channels of communication that have been formally approved by the organization to effectively communicate both internally and externally.
As needed, create the appropriate reports, presentations, briefing notes, and promotional materials.

Overall

should adhere to the organization’s policy structure, putting special emphasis on fostering a culture of health and safety, equal opportunity, and positive employee relations.
Collaborate closely with fellow organization members on joint projects, mailings, conferences, events, and meetings, among other things.
Engage in education and training when it is suitable.
Perform other tasks as decided upon by the supervisor and country director.

Personal Specification

Understanding

skilled in the use of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
able to collect data for statistical analysis and monthly reporting by regularly updating databases and spreadsheets.
familiarity with and comprehension of community development initiatives.
competent in the areas of activism, water and sanitation, and health.
In the targeted locations, carry out field-level health activities.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in environmental health, public health, social science, or a similar field.
  • Instruction in behavior modification, community approaches, and project planning and management demonstrated the ability to monitor and evaluate.
  • possesses expertise dealing with local governments and the diplomatic and cooperative skills necessary to organize individuals at all levels, including government partners, funders, communities, and employees.
  • Strong financial management abilities
  • Understanding Neglected Tropical Diseases is a bonus. abilities in writing reports,

Qualifications for Education

A bachelor’s degree or diploma in public administration and project planning A background in health or other related subjects combined with social work and social administration.

Experience and credentials

  • Two years minimum of experience implementing community development initiatives and working on health-related activities.
  • Must be able to collaborate and operate both individually and in teams.
  • Need to be able to function well under duress.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with neighbors.

Conditions & Terms

Subject to a six-month probationary term, a full-time (40 working hours per week) contract through December 31st, 2024, is provided. The post may be renewed, pending financing and probationary review.

Pay is determined by experience and credentials in accordance with the project staff scale of Good Neighbors.
At the contract stage, final terms and conditions will be discussed.
