About Us: Rebuild Program

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking Qualitative Research Facilitators (RCFs) to work in Kampala on the second wave of the Rebuild Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT). Rebuild is a five-year, multi-stakeholder urban livelihoods program implemented in Kampala and Nairobi. Our mission? To provide livelihood interventions to urban refugees and vulnerable host community members, enhancing their economic self-reliance.

Role Overview: Making an Impact

As an RCF, you’ll play a crucial role in evaluating the Wave 2 RCT intervention, starting in July 2024. Here’s what you’ll do:

  1. Key Informant Interviews:
    • Conduct interviews with clients to understand their program experience, business practices, and habits.
    • Translate and transcribe as needed for the research team.
  2. Compliance and Confidentiality:
    • Ensure adherence to organizational standards, codes of conduct, and safeguarding policies.
    • Handle data confidentially and ethically.
  3. Adaptability and Multicultural Collaboration:
    • Be flexible in response to changing work demands.
    • Work effectively both independently and within a multicultural team.
  4. Language Skills:
    • Fluency in Swahili, French, Oromo, Somali, or Amharic is a plus.
  5. Location:
    • Willingness to work in neighborhoods such as Makindye, Nakawa, Kawempe, Rubaga, or Kampala Central.
  6. Encouraging Diversity:
    • Qualified urban refugees from all nationalities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or humanities.
  • Experience in leading key informant interviews and qualitative research.
  • Data collection experience is an added advantage.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
