Company Overview:

A leading construction company specializing in residential apartment buildings seeks a highly skilled and seasoned Site Engineer to join our dynamic team. Role Description:

This is a full-time, on-site position for a Construction Site Engineer based in Kampala, Uganda. As a Site Engineer, you’ll oversee construction projects for multi-story buildings, manage budgets, coordinate with project managers, contractors, and vendors. Additionally, you’ll conduct regular site inspections, ensure adherence to safety regulations, and maintain the highest quality standards. Daily reporting to the Project Manager and Consulting Engineer is required.

Qualifications for Site Engineer :

  • Essential:
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
    • 3-4 years of experience working on multi-story building construction projects.
    • In-depth knowledge of engineering techniques, building codes, safety regulations, and quality control systems.
    • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office suite.
    • Effective collaboration within cross-functional teams and clear communication with team members, contractors, and vendors.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
    • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and progress reporting.
    • Excellent supervisory skills and independence.
    • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Desired:
    • Experience working with multi-story residential apartment building projects.

Duties and Responsibilities for Site Engineer :

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with project managers and team members to understand project goals.
    • Assist in developing project plans, timelines, and budgets.
    • Coordinate activities across engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
  2. Site Inspection and Quality Control:
    • Regularly inspect the site to ensure work aligns with plans and specifications.
    • Enforce safety regulations and maintain quality standards.
    • Address any deviations from the project plan.
  3. Construction Supervision:
    • Oversee construction activities according to project specifications.
    • Manage contractors, subcontractors, and laborers.
    • Resolve on-site issues promptly.
  4. Material and Equipment Management:
    • Monitor material delivery and compliance with quality standards.
    • Coordinate procurement and use of construction equipment.
    • Verify materials meet project specifications.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings and change orders.
    • Provide regular progress reports to project managers and stakeholders.
    • Document any deviations from the project plan.
  6. Budget and Cost Control:
    • Monitor project costs and stay within budget.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and report potential overruns.
    • Collaborate with project managers to meet financial goals.
  7. Problem Solving:
    • Address technical challenges on-site.
    • Collaborate with the design team to find solutions.
    • Propose changes for improved efficiency.

Communication and Stakeholder Management:

  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Conduct regular meetings to update team members on project progress and address any concerns.
  • Provide clear and concise communication regarding project status, timelines, and potential issues.

Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure that all necessary permits and approvals are obtained before and during construction.
  • Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing construction activities.

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Implement risk management plans to address and minimize project uncertainties.

Timeline:

  • Immediate for a minimum of 3 years.

Workplace:

  • On-site at Naguru, Kampala.

Gross Salary:

  • Negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
